What is an HDPE pipe and how to choose one?

HDPE polyethylene pipes are selected by three parameters: application, working pressure and diameter. Application sets the standard: for drinking and technical water supply use pipes to GOST 18599-2001 / ST RK ISO 4427-2014, for gas pipelines — ST RK GOST R 50838-2011 / ST RK ISO 4437-2014. Working pressure is determined by the SDR class: the lower the SDR, the thicker the wall and the higher the allowable pressure — SDR17 is typical for water, SDR11 for gas. The raw-material grade affects strength: PE100 gives a thinner wall than PE80 at equal pressure, while PE100-RC adds crack and impact resistance. Diameter is chosen by flow rate: common sizes are 63, 110, 160, 200, 225 and 315 mm, and Pipe-Plast makes the full range from 20 to 1200 mm.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about pipe selection

01What is SDR and which one should I choose?

SDR is the ratio of outer diameter to wall thickness: the lower the SDR, the thicker the wall and the higher the working pressure. SDR17 is commonly used for water supply, SDR11 for gas. Exact selection is based on the design working pressure.

02What is the difference between PE80 and PE100?

PE100 is a denser and stronger grade of polyethylene: at the same pressure it has a thinner wall than PE80, or withstands higher pressure at the same wall thickness. PE100 is the modern standard for pressure pipelines.

03What is a co-extruded pipe?

A multi-layer pipe whose layers are formed simultaneously in the melt during extrusion. Ours is a two-layer pipe d200–630: for water 90% white virgin inner layer + 10% black outer; for gas 90% black + 10% yellow. The white layer is visible proof of virgin raw material.

04What is the minimum order quantity?

Technically the plant can produce even a few metres, but in practice small batches are not taken into production: the line is set up for each specific order. The working minimum is 200 linear metres per item, regardless of diameter. For smaller volumes, call or message on WhatsApp to check stock availability.

05How do I get an exact price?

Leave a request via WhatsApp or by phone — a manager will quote the price for your diameter, SDR, and volume. The price per metre depends on the diameter and raw material grade.

06Do you have GOST certificates?

Yes. Products comply with ГОСТ 18599-2001 / СТ РК ISO 4427-2014 (water), СТ РК ГОСТ Р 50838-2011 / СТ РК ISO 4437-2014 (gas). Certificates and passports are provided with every batch.
